TELL ME SERVICE

Sitting in groups discussing personal branding, I realised how many of us are taught not to tell our story. Many of us have been raised not to boast or stand out. And then we find ourselves in situations where we are suddenly told “people buy from people” or “your narrative is not clear.”

I noticed that the skills that lead to a good focus group or stakeholder initiative could be useful here; if I can help a woman explain what the housing officer has meant to her keeping her children in schools, I can help a business owner how she worked out her product and services could make a real difference.

So “Tell Me…” was born. I will listen to your story, pay attention to when your body language shifts or prompt you when you’re missing an exciting bit out, and write up an article about your own story. What you do with that then is up to you; biography, award bid, social media, or just making sense of how you ended up here.

Frequently asked questions

The interview, writing it up as a story and one round of amendments costs £300, with discounts for the NHS, charities, CICs and people who have been made redundant from the public sector.

I primarily work remotely.

I am open to face to face working in Edinburgh and East Lothian, between 10am and 2pm, and can come to face to face meetings in Glasgow, Mid and West Lothian, the Borders and Stirling between 11am and 1pm, with reasonable travel expenses payable.

For Tell Me, there is a broad focus. I have worked with founders in a range of industries, from health and coaching through to finance and corporate career change. If your organisation aligns with my values, I am happy to tell your story. Those values include inclusion, human rights, and trying to reduce the damage we do to the environment. At this time, that means I will not work with organisations promoting war, exclusion, or with gig economy platforms (although I will work with people currently working as gig economy workers).
