This news story is about the Choice campaign I helped run at NHS Swindon. We reached thousands of people across Swindon, meeting them in supermarket car parks, football matches, Swindon Pride, the Swindon Mela, and other places where the community gathered. As well as explaining choice, we asked their opinions on how best to deliver services including family planning, sexual health, and urgent care, and we gave out a lot of helium balloons. We also took out blood pressure and blood sugar monitoring equipment – possibly a risky strategy in the run up to a Swindon Town game! I’m still proud of the campaign, and very grateful to the members of the team who came out to speak to the community, especially our nursing and communications colleagues.
